On the subject of dismantling the winch, you will find a very small roll pin
is securing the worm in and once you remove the pin it falls apart. The roll
pin is located to pass through a groove in the worm that is machined right
at the top where the handle goes in. It is very hard to find but look for a
small variation in the paint work on the side of the winch worm housing and
you just punch the pin out with a small pin punch. The hardest part is
finding the location of the pin.
I hope this is of some help, I would suggest to every Noelex owner should
dismantle the winch and inspect the drum for wear as they don’t give a lot
of warning when they fail and a good sailor should have an escape plan for
the day it does fail as it is not easy to lift the keel without the winch.
